Character History:

Jared grew up in Myere, the seventh of eight children of a farming family. A troubled childhood led to angst-filled teenage years. At about twelve, Jared began to experiment with magik. He had an affinity for lightning and electricity, and began to find ways of controlling it. At fifteen, during a trial-run of a new idea (the basis for Lighting Trap), Jared accidentally caused the death of two farm hands. He was banished from Myere.

The few years he wandered the roads of Rynith, picking up odd jobs, and pretty much staying out of trouble. At eighteen, Jared was in a tavern, spending the last of his coin on a much anticipated mug of ale. When the half-drunk Rynith Guardsman bumped his arm, well, you know what came next. The Guardsman ended up dead, out the front window, a hole melted right through his breastplate. Jared ended up in chains.

Two days later he was offered the great Rynith option, death, or service in the guard…

Four years and many ass-whippings later, Jared (now called Shock by his mates) became a well-respected soldier and feared mage. Shock took quickly to new spells, and to soldiering. The Guard took the bully and spoiled child and left behind a ruthless, powerful, and smart Mage.

After a few years on active duty with the guard, mostly in northern Rynith on the Akkorian border, Shock finally got a combat assignment in Halgudar. It was during this tour that Roche noticed this hotshot young mage, and, saw an opportunity. Soon after, Shock was assigned directly to Roche, and began running special operations throughout the eastern lands. This only lasted about four months, because, then Blackthorne fled the country.

Shortly thereafter, Shock was contacted by Roche to leave Rynith, and join into Blackthorne’s private little army. Shock knew a good offer when he saw it, and gladly fled the country.

For several months Shock helped on missions that Blackthorne and Roche set up to aid Tarrik. These culminated in helping Tarrik’s team at the arch in Chalter
Medrium. There, in the battle against Primor’s forces, Shock was severely wounded, and left for dead.

It turns out, though, that a Brother of Tranquility, Brother Aaron, was nearby the battle and came there once things quieted down. He found Shock, took him away from the battlefield, and nursed him back to health. A month or so later, Shock left the brother’s care, and tracked down Torrin, Alexander, Xan, and Tara. Since then the five have become the Ebon Blades, and, with the leadership of Torrin, they have worked for Halgudar, had a short stint with the DeMekrium foreign legion in Dakkor, and took a contract to recover Totems. They also worked as caravan guards for awhile, in and around Nost Kare.

Last seen in 502, Shock was getting drunk with Tara at the Flask Tavern, in Gesnor. The team had just agreed to take Lord Rubaeus into Palrim…
